COUNSELING

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relational and interpersonal struggles, grief, trauma, addiction, or a chronic health issue, therapy can help.

When working with individuals I provide an integrated approach to help you gain a deeper understanding of your symptoms, develop positive coping skills and create lasting change.  Some of the therapies I use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy where patterns of negative thinking are identified and replaced with healthier ways of thinking.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a cognitive-behavioral approach where mindfulness is a key element in learning to cope with overwhelming emotions that have been interfering with life and then focusing on ways to change harmful behaviors.
  • Psychodynamic psychotherapy explores early life experiences, thoughts, emotions and beliefs to gain insight of how the past influences present day behavior.
  • EMDR is a style of therapy developed to help people recover from disturbing, life-changing past events that continue to have a negative effect and interfere with the way the person sees and interacts with the present world.

Some of the issues I work with include:

  • Anxiety & depression
  • Relationship issues & dating
  • Trauma related issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Addiction and relapse prevention
  • Stress reduction
  • Career transitions and work/life balance
  • Codependency
  • Self-esteem

I also use an integrated approach when working with couples to teach the skills needed to improve communication,  resolve issues and strengthen the relationship.  In addition to working on communication and problem solving skills, we will work together to address past issues getting in the way of moving forward.
