ADOLESCENTS & YOUNG ADULTS

Navigating a world of challenging relationships, uncertainty about the future, pressure to excel in all areas of life, substance use and body image are just a few of the challenges adolescents and young adults face today. Young people are in a constant state of change where they are trying to figure out who they are and how and where they fit into the world.   Therapy can help young people create a better understanding of themselves and provide the tools needed to improve emotional regulation, solve problems and become more resilient.

Adolescence and young adulthood can also be a challenge for parents. One of the most important things we can do as parents is to listen; not reacting but really listening without judgment to what our children have to say. When we accept and value their emotions, they feel heard and more confident.  If relating to your teenager has become a challenge, parent coaching may help.  I provide parent coaching to help with issues such as back talk, power struggles, sibling rivalry, not listening, morning routines and more.

I provide therapy for adolescents and young adults using a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT , mindfulness, talk therapy and EMDR.   I offer a safe space for young people to explore their feelings and talk about the challenges in their life.  I help them develop a deeper understanding of the behaviors that are not working and improve their ability to cope with life’s stressors.  Some of the issues  I work with include:

  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Family issues/divorce
  • Body image
  • Self-harm
  • Addiction
  • Sexuality
  • Exploring future career paths
